A working trip to Tainan City, Taiwan and South China. Since it was National Novel Writing Month*, I met up with a couple writing groups in Taipei and in Hong Kong. I hope they had better success in completing their works than I did that month.

While one never wants to spend anymore time in an airport than is absolutely required, some are far better than others. Amsterdam Schiphol has a smaller version of the Rijksmuseum. Seoul Incheon has performances and tours. Singapore Changi has butterfly gardens, movie theatres and other treats to help pass the time. Taipei Taoyuan has themed gates: some are entertaining but the Hello Kitty one is a bit disturbing.

In and out through Hong Kong on a visit to South China. Greatest cheapest entertainment is riding the ferry boats back and forth across Hong Kong harbour. The food is pretty good too. 😉

*Editor’s note: National Novel Writing Month (or NaNoWriMo) is no more. The program shuttered in 2024.
