Had a good time in Canterbury. It has changed a little since I was there last, but then again it was about ten years ago. We are now spending a couple days unwinding in London before catching our flight back on Tuesday. There is a particular area we like to stay, so we have familiar surroundings. They seem to be filming some period film or TV movie a couple blocks away, which is kind of cool.

Since the key portion of our trip was time – making it around the world in a specified amount of it – it seemed worthwhile making the trip to Greenwich where they practically invented time and certainly defined it. Time around the world is relative to Greenwich Mean Time using the Prime Meridian as the zero point. Also interesting to be able to have a foot in both the eastern and western hemisphere at the same time.

Also today, we made our way to the Reform Club, the club where Phileas Fogg was a member and where he completed his famous trip. It seemed worth the visit. Since the club is not really interested in advertising its presence, we had the good fortune to have a tour bus driver help us locate it while his charges were doing the “Princess Diana Walk”. Considering the rather cool reception that Michael Palin received when he asked if he could come in, we chose not to knock on the door.

We have completed out trip and have to admit that it is time to step back into the ‘real world’. Drop us a note, let us know what is going on out there…
