Some thoughts on the trip so far, from the perspective of being halfway done. Boarding the ship in Osaka represented a significant change in the trip. From this point forward, we would be less on our own. In some ways, the most difficult things were behind us. It was a good point to commit things to paper before the memories became lost in a jumble of mental images.
